My dishwasher just quit on me in the middle of a cycle, and now it’s sitting there full of water and dirty dishes. I tried turning it off and on again (the good ol' reset trick), but no luck. Anyone know what might be causing it or if there's something simple I can check before I bring someone in?

Ugh, that’s the worst! It could be a couple of things—if the water's not draining, the problem might be with the drain hose or even the pump itself. Sometimes it’s as simple as a stuck float switch, but other times it could mean the motor’s shot. If none of the quick fixes are working, it might be time to get a pro to take a look. Astera Services https://www.asteraservice.com/ in Chicago are great for stuff like this. They provide awesome appliance and HVAC installing and repairing services. They came by to fix my dishwasher when it wouldn't start, and it turned out to be a faulty door latch. Saved me from tossing the whole thing, and they got it sorted pretty quick. Definitely worth giving them a call if you’re still stuck.
